SHOOTING PROJECTS
THE HAPPY HIPPIES PROJECT, A TEXT BY MICHELE SALIMBENI, PHILOSOPHER AND FILMMAKER.
The Happy Hippies Project is born with the will to spead the strenght of a dream to all people and remember them that we're all united and we all have a powerful voice, that we all matters.
"The hippie philosophy of the seventies has long since gone out of fashion, forgotten, or rather hibernating but in spite of its inevitable contradictions, there is a theme that is more relevant than ever today: Nature.
The problem is how to become part of the natural equilibrium of which we, humans, are part. The premise is we are Nature itself. We do not live in nature, we do not benefit from it, we are not outside nature. We are simply a part of nature. What is most needed today is to find the right balance with nature, that is, with ourselves. “Back to Nature! Back to life!” it could be, simplified, the slogan. To overcome the crisis, we should go back to our rural traditions. Back to natural grace.
According to the philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, nature is grace. It never wears a mediocre appearance. It is democratic. Emerson writes: “The beautiful landscape I saw this morning is undoubtedly made up of twenty or thirty farms. Miller owns this field, Locke the other and Manning the woods beyond. Nobody of them, however, owns the landscape. There is a property on the horizon that does not belong to anyone".
Going back to Nature means, mainly, to live in symbiosis with the natural state of things. Be part of nature.
Now we find this important symbiosis with nature in Elijah Aaronson's artistic work and, above all, in her new “Happy Hippies” series. One of the ultimate goals of Elijah Aaronson's art is, as nature itself does, satisfying the love for beauty, the noblest need of man. And Serena's , finds again this grace, by portraying and staging models who represent this powerful nature. It is the mute voices of these photographs that rise and reconnect with the suspended discourse that had been initiated by the “hippie philosophy”.
Still Emerson: “The greatest pleasure that the fields and the woods provide is an indication of a hidden relationship between man and the natural kingdom". In this new series, Elijah's, perfectly manages to capture the concrete essence of this hidden relationship, of this osmosis between nature (the natural kingdom) and the human being, here perfectly represented by youth.
Once again Serena Jolie's photography and art become prayer, contemplation and poetry. An ode to life, and to the energy of the universe, compressed in the shot of her camera." Michele SALIMBENI
